IAS Green Policy
Drawing from, and building upon, the wider Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Environmental Policy, this policy adds further detail to the procedures that the Institute of Advanced Studies will undertake to ensure that we will embed sustainability and social responsibility into all of our processes, operations and developments
Three key elements of a positive green impact
- Environmental – Congestion reduction, improved air quality and reduced carbon emissions, both from greener forms of transport and more sustainable dietary options.
- Health and Wellbeing – Active transport builds physical activity into routines, health benefits from a vegetarian/vegan diet.
- Financial – Where savings can be made.
What does the IAS do?
- Order quality vegetarian & vegan food choices as standard.
- Non-disposable items in our kitchen to reduce single use items.
- Recycling bins by waste category.
- Reduce food waste, any fresh leftovers offered elsewhere on campus.
- Switch-off, shut-down policy, lights, computers and equipment.
- Use local companies to reduce carbon footprint.
- Discourage flying where the destination can be reached within 8 hours by train / if the destination is within 500 km radius
- Raise awareness with visitors around sustainability and greener transportation options.
- Wherever possible we are paperless.
- Use sustainable packaging with delivered catering.
